During National Donate Life Month in April, we honor the people who have given the gift of life through eye, organ and tissue donation. We also celebrate the lives that have been saved and healed because of a donor’s generosity.
This year’s theme uses trees as a symbol of life and connection. Just like trees grow and support each other in a forest, donation connects people – donors, recipients, and their families. Like a tree that grows and stands for generations, a donor’s gift leaves a lasting legacy of hope and life.
Donate Life America and its partnering organizations established National Donate Life Month in 2003. In April each year, National Donate Life Month helps raise awareness about donation, encourages Americans to register as eye, organ, and tissue donors, and honors those who have healed and saved lives through the gift of donation.
Your decision to be an eye, organ, and tissue donor gives hope and light to the nearly 100,000 people on the national transplant waiting list and the thousands more who need eye and tissue transplants.

Events
Celebrate the gift of life and help raise awareness in April for eye, organ, and tissue donation in your community by helping to honor the gift of donation on any of the following days:
- National Blue & Green Spirit Week starting April 5, 2026: Supporters of eye, organ and tissue donation across the United States will celebrate the gift of life by wearing their best blue & green, sharing stories of hope with their communities and on social media, participating in local events and encouraging others to register their donation decision.
- National Blue & Green Day on Friday, April 10th: Supporters across the United States of eye, organ, and tissue donation will celebrate National Blue & Green Day as part of National Donate Life Month! Celebrate by wearing blue and green to spread awareness and show your support. Don’t forget to snap a picture and share it on social media!
- Wyoming Donor Dash on April 25, 2026 - Honoring the lives of eye, organ and tissue donors, celebrating the lives of transplant recipients and recognizing those who continue to wait for a transplant, join the Wyoming community and celebrate the gift of life at the annual Wyoming Donor Dash 5K walk/run held in Casper, Wyoming. Registration is open and free for all donor families!

Have coffee with family or friends, tell them about your donation decision, and share how donation impacts your community with these facts.
